FHDW Bielefeld disappoints on many levels. The lecturers prefer to brag about their supposed wealth rather than holding high-quality lectures. The lectures resemble more of a 9th-grade classroom, with little talking and a lot of solving tasks. Even if the costs are covered by partner companies, the monthly tuition of €650 is too expensive for the outdated lecture halls and technical equipment. The university was barely introduced, and the staff in the office are extremely rude. No recommendation from my side.

I personally haven't studied at FHDW in Bielefeld, I'm still looking for where to study. When I saw the pictures uploaded in 08/2024, I initially thought that the facilities looked quite good. However, I soon realized that the pictures are not from Bielefeld, but from another location near Cologne.

Anyone considering going to this university should rather refrain. As a student, you have no rights, and the university doesn't care how all the work turns out. The blame is always on the students anyway. If you expect to see flexibility in a program that costs well over €10,000, you're in the wrong place. They strictly follow the plan, whether you have five exams in one week is pretty uninteresting for the faculty staff. There are lecturers who make "no mistakes" during their lectures and thus accept a failure rate of well over 50% and then want to present it as if the course is the dumbest they ever had. In one lecture, a lecturer boasted that his failure rate (on average) is 30% and that this is just normal for him. There is a generally disrespectful attitude towards students, as they are supposedly responsible for the poor results. I studied here for 2.5 years and only experienced bad things. Criticism was not addressed, and over half of my course (over 25 people) dropped out early. If you have the choice, look for another university.

The university is a complete disappointment. Anyone hoping for a cool student life filled with fulfillment and experiences, thinking it's a good university, will be disabused. Nothing is right at the university, as I could have realized even before starting my studies. Why do I have to pass an extremely difficult and unnecessary entrance exam, lasting over two hours, after my partner company has already given me a confirmation, sent me the employment contract, and my place at the university was already secure? After that, I had to conduct a personal interview where only half an hour was spent chatting; they could have accepted me right away. So they made me wait another four weeks for a place that was already secure, playing with my nerves. And as if that wasn't enough, the university demands not only outrageously high tuition fees (€640.00 per month) but also an extra €217.00 for a semester ticket and then a copy of the certificate, which has to be certified again, is this really your serious? Unfortunately, I wasn't very optimistic about the studies themselves and was right. On the first day, I was confronted with anything but friendly staff. This has not changed over time. And I can't have anything good to say about the studies themselves either. I believe that among the components of a successful company, professionalism, seriousness, and solidarity should be included. Unfortunately, all three mentioned attributes leave much to be desired at the university, and I can cite the work of some lecturers as an example. With some, it feels like indirect refusal to work, as things are often discussed in lectures that have nothing to do with the course of study. It only confuses rather than helps you progress. Aside from the fact that the course (B.Sc. Business Informatics) does not fulfill me content-wise and is quite disappointing, I have completely lost the desire due to the mentioned criticisms. I see neither a future nor a reason to stay. If there is no reason to stay, that's reason enough to go. Furthermore, I find it very questionable to demand tuition fees of €640.00 per month for us having to change rooms a few times because the projector doesn't even work, and that out of nine lecturers, only three are decent. To put it bluntly, it's a good example of money grabbing, where it's not about genuinely promoting the students. Thus, dropping out is already certain and just a matter of time. Additionally, I wonder how they expect me to learn for the third attempt with only 3-4 weeks' time, as if they want to expel me already. Should any of my lecturers or fellow students happen to read this, don't worry, I don't blame my poor performance on that. I am 100% responsible for it myself, but I can defend myself by saying that I couldn't have known beforehand what a huge disappointment awaited me. After all, I had imagined it quite differently. Furthermore, I want to mention that the university came to me rather than me choosing it voluntarily. It depended on the partner company, so there was no other way. If I were to continue my studies, I would have changed universities sooner or later anyway. If anyone has the choice to decide on another university, they should better do so because I can't imagine this university is hard to beat. I usually don't like to express negative criticism at all and am very sparing with it, but I just had to get it off my chest.
