Halhof Farm Shop | Opening Hours & Events

The Halhof in Bielefeld is much more than a farm shop. It is an inclusive learning and meeting place on the outskirts of the city that combines nature experiences, regional products, educational offerings, and recurring festivals in one location. Those searching for Halhof Farm Shop Bielefeld, Halhof opening hours, Halhof events, or Halhof hay hotel will find a destination clearly focused on community, sustainability, and participation. The site is located near the Obersee and offers green spaces, a vegetable garden with a greenhouse, a stream with a pond, orchards, climbing opportunities, archery ranges, and animals. This creates a farm image that consciously combines a rural atmosphere with social and ecological learning. The Halhof is operated by the Bielefeld Falcons, who have leased the farm since 2006 and continue to develop it as an open place for children, youth, families, and groups. The address Talbrückenstraße 142 in 33609 Bielefeld is not only a practical orientation but also a good starting point for anyone looking to discover regional food, experience-oriented offerings, and special farm festivals in one place. Halhof Farm Shop: Opening Hours, Market Cart, and Regional Products

The focus of many inquiries is the Halhof Farm Shop, and for good reason: Sales are conducted through the market cart, which has clearly defined opening hours and thus remains predictable. The market cart is open on Thursdays from 9 AM to 12 PM and Fridays from 2 PM to 5 PM. Those who prefer to organize their products in advance can order online or contact by phone and email. Particularly convenient is the option for pickup by pre-ordering on weekdays from 8 AM to 1 PM. This makes the Halhof not only a classic farm shop but also a practical reference point for customers from Bielefeld and the surrounding area. The range includes farm-produced items such as meat and sausage from Heck cattle and Red Höhenvieh, eggs from the chickens, honey, homemade jams, and juices. Depending on the season, fruits and vegetables from the farm's own harvest are added. Thus, the Halhof stands for regional value creation and short distances, but also for a transparent connection to its own production. Those wishing to use the farm shop online will find references to the online shop as well as to Regionalmarkt OWL on the official pages, where products from the region can be ordered online and picked up at the cart on Fridays. The products are therefore not only local but also flexibly available. For many visitors, this connection of direct farm sales, digital pre-ordering, and clear opening hours is a decisive advantage. The Halhof is thus a farm shop that links practical supply and conscious consumption. ([halhof-bielefeld.de](https://halhof-bielefeld.de/unser-hofladen/))

Events at the Halhof: Swallow Festival, Josef Market, and Winter Market

A second central theme in the keyword analysis is the events at the Halhof. The farm is not only a place for shopping but also a fixture in the Bielefeld event calendar. The official pages mention annually recurring farm festivals such as the Auenfest, the Josef Market, and the Winter Market. For 2026, the Halhof page lists, among others, the Auenfest on June 21, the Josef Market on September 12 and 13, and the Winter Market on December 13. These dates show that the Halhof appeals to different target groups throughout the year and creates seasonal occasions that can be attended by families, neighbors, and all interested parties. The Josef Market is described as a medieval crafts market. There, medieval craftsmen and craftswomen, traders, farm kitchen, tavern, juggling, music, and a fire show come together. This is not merely a sales format but an experience-oriented festival with a strong atmosphere. The Swallow Festival is also well documented: Together with NABU Bielefeld, the unique swallow colony at the Halhof is celebrated, with children's rally, climbing, archery, horseback riding, face painting, stick bread, and culinary offerings from the farm. Admission was free there. This mix of nature connection, craftsmanship, family, and regional cuisine makes the Halhof a unique event location. For visitors searching for Halhof events, Halhof Josef Market, or Halhof Swallow Festival, this recognizability is a strong argument. The Halhof does not thrive on a single large event but on a yearly rhythm of market, festival, and encounter. ([halhof-bielefeld.de](https://halhof-bielefeld.de/feste-auf-dem-halhof/))

Play and Meeting Spaces: Indoor Play Area, Hay Hotel, and Multipurpose Room

Many users are interested in more than just the farm shop or events at the Halhof, namely the play and meeting spaces. This is where the versatility of the place is evident. The official indoor play area covers 500 square meters in a rustic, unheated barn loft. It is equipped with a bouldering wall, a low ropes course, a foosball table, a table tennis table, two mini soccer goals, a sound system with Bluetooth connection, and plenty of seating. This creates a space that is attractive not only in bad weather but also provides a special setting for groups, birthdays, projects, or movement sessions. Even more focused on groups is the hay hotel along with the stilt house. Both units can be booked by groups of ten or more, school classes, and daycare groups. There are two hay sleeping areas, tables and benches, toilets and shower rooms, as well as a self-catering kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, freezer, and basic cooking utensils. For accompanying persons, there are two separate sleeping rooms with single beds and private bathrooms. The hay hotel is thus not just a simple overnight accommodation but a complete group offering with its own experiential value. Additionally, there is the multipurpose room, which is rented for events, festivals, and celebrations. Also important for families and children is the inclusive, public playground, which is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. This mix of indoor play, overnight stays, events, and free play is a strong argument for all those looking to book Halhof hay hotel, Halhof playground, or Halhof rooms. The farm thus fulfills several functions at once: leisure place, accommodation, learning space, and celebration location. Nature Experience and Education for Sustainable Development at the Halhof

The Halhof is explicitly designed as an inclusive learning and meeting place, and this is where its educational strengths arise. The guiding principle on the official page defines education for sustainable development as a connection between environmental awareness, social thinking, team spirit, and responsible action. Children and young people should understand ecological, economic, and social contexts, get to know different perspectives, and reflect on their own actions. At the Halhof, this approach is not conveyed abstractly but made immediately tangible. The site offers wide green spaces, a vegetable garden with a greenhouse, a stream with a pond, orchards, climbing opportunities, archery ranges, and animals. This creates an environment where nature, movement, and self-efficacy come together. It is particularly important that the offerings are aimed at groups, school classes, open all-day programs, daycare centers, families, and multipliers in child and youth work. In addition, fixed group offerings are specifically named on the website: Tierisch fairbunden as an animal-assisted group for children aged 6 to 12 years, Bunter Zirkus Halhof for the same age group, the Määhckerbande as a grassroots democratic animal-assisted experiential education for ages 9 to 14, the Umwelt-Spürnasen for ages 6 to 11, and the Kräuter-Detektive for ages 8 to 12. These programs show that the Halhof is pedagogically well-equipped and promotes both nature knowledge and social skills. The page on fixed group offerings also explains that the offerings are designed to be inclusive, can be free of charge in part, and require registration. Therefore, those searching for Halhof Bielefeld, Halhof inclusion, or Halhof nature experience will find a place here that connects learning processes with direct experience. Inclusion, Family Support Service, and Participation at the Halhof

A key term for the profile of the Halhof is inclusion. The current website explicitly emphasizes that inclusion is not an addition but a central component of the work. All young people should be able to participate in the offerings, regardless of disability, neurodivergence, origin, nationality, religion, skin color, sexual orientation, gender identity, or social background. Discrimination has no place there. This is not only a promise of values but is supplemented by concrete structures. The Family Support Service was established in 2018 to eliminate barriers and enable participation in leisure and holiday offerings. At the Halhof, this area organizes inclusive holiday games, group offerings, and projects, including animal-assisted offerings, climbing, and archery. Additionally, individual assistance for leisure activities is possible. This means: The Halhof does not only think in terms of events or sales times but also in terms of access. Those who need help should be able to receive it within the framework of the offerings. This is why the farm fits particularly well with search queries such as Halhof inclusion, Halhof children's offerings, or Halhof barrier-free, even though the official website places more emphasis on participation than on technical accessibility data. The farm sees itself as an open meeting space and thus as a place where differences are treated not as a problem but as normality. For families, school groups, and organizations, this creates a reliable framework because educational offerings, play opportunities, and group formats are supported by a clear inclusive self-understanding. The Halhof clearly demonstrates that regional agriculture, leisure activities, and social responsibility can go hand in hand. History of the Halhof and Location on the Outskirts of Bielefeld

To understand the Halhof, one should also know its history. The historical development dates back a long way and makes the place a special part of Bielefeld's city history. On the official Halhof page, the farm is first mentioned in a document from 1173. The Ravensberger Urbar of 1556 lists it as a cottage farm with about 2,000 square meters of land for house, farm, and garden. At that time, the Halemeyer family managed the estate, and the tithe right belonged to the Stift Schildesche. A particularly vivid detail is the royal visit on August 23, 1842, when Friedrich Wilhelm IV and his wife Elisabeth stopped at the farm. Later, around 1917, the Bethel institution Sarepta bought the farm and used it to supply diaconal institutions. In World War II, the estate was almost completely destroyed due to bombings because of its proximity to the viaduct. In the 1950s, the farm was transferred to the city of Bielefeld, and since 2006, it has been leased by the Bielefeld Falcons. This development explains why the Halhof today is neither a classic tourist farm nor just a sales location, but a socially and pedagogically shaped place with historical depth. The location on the outskirts near the Obersee further enhances this character. One reaches a farm that connects rural tranquility, green spaces, and urban accessibility. For search queries like Halhof directions or Halhof Talbrückenstraße 142, the official address is therefore particularly important: Talbrückenstraße 142, 33609 Bielefeld. Thus, anyone visiting the Halhof enters a place where centuries-old farm history, modern inclusion, and regional everyday culture intertwine. Unfortunately, the prices for the events are way too high. At other markets with an entrance fee, the individual stalls are cheaper. The events are smaller but made with love. Maybe I just expected more with all the huge advertising.
