Community Center Green Cube | Events & Room Rentals

The Green Cube at Kesselbrink is not a classic event building with a rigid program, but an open participatory meeting center in the heart of Bielefeld. Here, children, teenagers, and adults meet for free offerings, conversations, workshops, cultural formats, and movement activities. Since summer 2020, the building has been operating as a community center; since September 2023, a consortium of AWO District Association Bielefeld, Diakonie for Bielefeld, and Caritas Bielefeld has been responsible for the organization on site. This mix of openness, neighborhood connection, and versatile use makes the Green Cube exciting for many search queries. Those looking for photos, visual impressions, events, or room options will find here a place that is much more than just an address at Kesselbrink. It serves as a meeting point, experimentation space, and social anchor point simultaneously. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

Photos, Images, and First Impressions of the Green Cube

Many visitors first search for photos or images before they can really categorize a location. This is understandable for the Green Cube, as the building is located right in the middle of Kesselbrink and is closely connected to a place that is visually striking: open square areas, green spaces, water features, skate and BMX facilities, calisthenics area, play areas, pétanque court, fountains, and weekly markets shape the surroundings. This already creates a very unique urban scene that is immediately recognizable in pictures. The official website also works with many image modules and links its social media channels, allowing interested parties to quickly get an impression of the atmosphere, usage, and daily life. This is particularly useful if one is interested not only in the address but also in the mood, usage, and appearance. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

The first impression of the Green Cube is primarily one of openness. The website describes the building as an innovative participatory meeting center for children, teenagers, and adults. The offerings are meant to feel like a collaborative creation rather than a finished product, developed together with users, the neighborhood, associations, and other actors. This also results in the visual character of the building: not an exclusive event temple, but a place where everyday life, encounters, and participation become visible. Thus, those searching for photos of the Green Cube are often looking not only for beautiful architecture but also for authenticity. The imagery of the official pages and the connection with Instagram and Facebook support this impression, as they not only show spaces but also focus on the people and activities within the building. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

Particularly important for the image and search perception is also the address itself: Kesselbrink 2, 33602 Bielefeld. Kesselbrink is a central square in the city center and was urbanistically redesigned between 2013 and 2019. This makes the entire location appear more modern and urban than many would expect from a classic community center. Therefore, those searching for images or impressions of the Green Cube receive not only the building but also a strong urban environment. This explains why search queries often target Bielefeld, Kesselbrink, and Green Cube simultaneously. The location is not just a building but part of a very visible, very vibrant urban place. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

From an SEO perspective, this first impression is also valuable: searchers usually want to quickly understand whether the place is culturally, socially, or practically relevant. The answer for the Green Cube is clear: Yes, and in multiple directions. The building stands for encounters, participation, and open usage by different groups. Thus, it is as relevant for photos, images, and general location research as it is for concrete topics like room rentals, bistro, culture, or counseling. This multilayered nature ensures that the Green Cube stands out in the city's perception and is searched for online repeatedly. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

Events, Programs, and Free Offerings

The heart of the Green Cube is the program. The official website lists regular actions and events such as mobile play, dance offerings for teenagers and young adults, yoga, painting courses, and networking meetings. These examples illustrate very well how broadly the building is conceived: It is not just about a single type of event but about a permanent, open, and socially relevant offering. The Green Cube is particularly interesting for people looking for not only classic cultural events in Bielefeld but also places where one can participate, try out, and make contacts. This aligns with the self-understanding as a participatory meeting center. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

Additionally, the cultural offerings are explicitly described as diverse. The website features art exhibitions, concerts, theater workshops, language café formats, dance projects, drumming groups, reading circles, and open meetings. Thus, the Green Cube covers a spectrum ranging from low-threshold leisure activities to creative education and community-oriented formats. This is important for search intent because many people are looking for an event location that offers not only one-time events but also ongoing program diversity. Terms like program, events, cultural offerings, or participatory offerings fit very well with the Green Cube. The official page provides not only text but also an event schedule and current news, allowing interested parties to continuously discover new content. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/))

Another significant advantage is that the offerings are available free of charge. The website emphasizes multiple times that groups, projects, and events can be attended without an entrance fee. This makes the Green Cube a very accessible place in the daily life of the city center. It is relevant not only for culture enthusiasts but also for people seeking low-threshold encounters, for example in language cafés, open discussion rounds, or movement activities. The broad cost-free nature is also a strong SEO signal as it positions the place as open, social, and practical. Therefore, those searching for events, programs, or cultural offerings in Bielefeld do not find a closed building here but a publicly accessible meeting point with a very conscious participatory character. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/))

The diversity of the program is also related to the structure of the sponsors and initiatives. Various actors from Bielefeld and the surrounding area shape the offerings. This keeps the profile of the building deliberately open and adaptable. Some offerings take place weekly, others every two weeks, or during specific project phases. The event schedule on the website is therefore the best point of contact for anyone wanting to check current or upcoming dates. For searchers, this is particularly practical as they can quickly see whether the Green Cube is more of a place for regular meetings, individual cultural appointments, or open participatory formats. The answer is: all of that, but always with a focus on encounters. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/))

Room Inquiry, Rooms, and Flexible Use

Another important search area around the Green Cube is the room inquiry. The website provides a dedicated page for this and clearly describes which spaces are available for inquiries. The large room on the 1st floor covers 55 square meters and is complemented by a 50 square meter balcony. The large window fronts can be fully opened in summer, making the room particularly bright and flexible. This information is very helpful for event organizers, associations, initiatives, and private groups, as it not only describes an abstract location but also provides concrete usage data. Thus, anyone looking for a room in Bielefeld immediately gets a real impression of space and atmosphere. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/raumanfrage/))

In addition, there is a small room on the 1st floor with 25 square meters. It has floor-to-ceiling windows that cannot be opened and is separated from the rest of the building by a glass sliding door. This is ideal for smaller discussion formats, meetings, or quieter gatherings. The bistro operation is located on the ground floor during the day, which means this area is not permanently available. However, after the bistro operation ends, the 55 square meter bistro room is available for use on Mondays to Thursdays from 6 PM and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. This shows that the Green Cube organizes its spaces very consciously and situationally. For searching for room rentals or room usage, this is an important detail as it identifies the location as flexible and practical. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/raumanfrage/))

Also noteworthy is the info point on the ground floor next to the counter. There, people can receive low-threshold advice on various topics. The website explicitly emphasizes that the room provides both acoustic and visual protection, allowing for undisturbed conversations. Additionally, there is a rooftop garden on the second floor that can be used in the evenings during summer and is often maintained and planted by children during the day. This information makes it clear that the Green Cube not only has event rooms but also a whole system of usage: counseling, encounters, garden, bistro, and open spaces interconnect. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/raumanfrage/))

For contact, the website names direct contacts. Nico Schmidt-Krischik is responsible for room management and educational offerings, while Caroline Marek is mentioned for exhibitions, the rooftop garden project, as well as administration and finance. Additionally, there are general contact methods via email and phone, as well as a dedicated bistro contact address for catering or lunch inquiries. This clear separation is very helpful for users as they can quickly find the right contact method. Therefore, anyone searching for room rentals, room inquiries, or specific spaces can not only understand the rooms but also the organizational process behind them. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/kontakt/))

Bistro in the Green Cube and Social Offerings

The bistro is a central component of the Green Cube and significantly shapes the place. The website describes the bistro as part of the building and emphasizes that it mainly employs people with disabilities. It is therefore not only gastronomy but also a social employment and meeting field. The bistro offers food and drinks at lunchtime and in the afternoon, making the Green Cube function as a daily point of contact. Thus, those who are out and about at Kesselbrink during the day find not only an event center here but also a place for food, breaks, and encounters. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/?utm_source=openai))

For inquiries related to the bistro, lunch, or catering, it is also important that the website provides its own contact details. A phone number and a separate email address are provided for bistro inquiries, which are explicitly intended for catering, lunch, and similar concerns. At the same time, the contact page points out that the general info email should not be used for bistro inquiries. This clear structure is a plus for user-friendliness, as interested parties immediately recognize where to turn with which concern. Especially for a location that combines so many different functions, clear communication is particularly valuable. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/kontakt/))

Content-wise, the bistro also fits very well with the character of the building. The Green Cube sees itself as an open meeting point, and the bistro complements this idea through low-threshold, everyday usage. One does not come only for a fixed event but also for food, to linger, to talk, or as an accompanying person to an offering. This creates a kind of social hub within the building. Particularly for people visiting Bielefeld and Kesselbrink without planning a specific cultural format, the bistro is often the first contact point with the building. This mix of gastronomy, social participation, and open atmosphere is a central feature of the Green Cube. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/?utm_source=openai))

From an SEO perspective, the bistro is important as it expands search intent. Those searching for Green Cube Bielefeld often look not only for events but also for food, lunch, contact, or a pleasant place to stay. Therefore, the bistro is not a minor point but a supporting pillar of the overall perception. Together with the counseling offerings, the info point, and the free groups, a building emerges that cannot be reduced to a single purpose. This multilayered nature makes the Green Cube strong for local search queries and attractive for visitors. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/?utm_source=openai))

Kesselbrink, Location, and History of the Place

Kesselbrink is much more than just the address of the Green Cube. The official website describes it as a central square in the middle of Bielefeld's city center, used for sports and cultural offerings, events, and the weekly market. On site, there is a large skate park, a calisthenics area, a children's play area, a pétanque court, and a fountain. This backdrop is crucial for the impact of the Green Cube as it embeds the building in a very urban, open, and lively urban space. Thus, anyone visiting the Green Cube always experiences Kesselbrink as well. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

The history of the square helps to better understand its current significance. According to the website, Kesselbrink received its current appearance through redesigns between 2013 and 2019. In 2013, the square was reopened after extensive redesign with green areas, water features, and skate and BMX facilities. In summer 2019, a calisthenics area and a large climbing and play area were added. The Green Cube was opened as a café and restaurant operation as early as 2014, but it was not permanently successful. After another vacancy starting in August 2019, the current concept of a participatory meeting center finally emerged. This development explains why the place today consciously focuses on openness, participation, and social use. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

For the current perception, it is also important that the Green Cube is open to all Bielefeld residents. The website emphasizes that the rooms are available free of charge and that associations, organizations, and individuals can apply for open offerings. This makes the place visible not only as a building but as a municipal participation project. This fits well with the surroundings of Kesselbrink, which is also a public, heavily used square. This connection between public space outside and open space inside makes the Green Cube a special location in Bielefeld. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/gruener-wuerfel/))

Therefore, those searching for photos, events, room rentals, bistro, or contact are actually looking for a place that meets various needs simultaneously. The Green Cube is a cultural venue, meeting point, counseling room, bistro, project space, and community center all in one. This is precisely why it keeps appearing in local searches and is a prominent, social, and architecturally striking reference point for Bielefeld. The verified official pages provide the most reliable information and clearly show how diverse the location is used. ([gruenerwuerfel.de](https://www.gruenerwuerfel.de/))

We went there for the vegan food. They've been offering vegan options occasionally for a while now. There's a weekly changing menu online. Delicious. Some vegan options. Good price. Friendly service. Cash only :) We had the vegan kebab today.

On May 26, 2022, we wanted to stop there for food and drinks. After entering the restaurant, we first wanted to use the restroom. The owner jumped up to us, shouted rudely where we were going, refused to let us use the restroom, and pointed us to one outside the restaurant. That ended our visit there. We will not be visiting this establishment again. A proprietor who treats guests like that doesn't deserve any business. Fortunately, I've never experienced anything like that before. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

The location itself is quite nice, but the tables and chairs are extremely uncomfortable and made of plastic. The coffee wasn't great, but not bad either. Unfortunately, there are no alternative dairy products, which is a shame. The staff seemed rather stiff and inept.
