GENIUS Halloween: When Boogers Suddenly Write Science
Halloween receives a highly entertaining anatomy note in the Knowledge Workshop Bielefeld: GENIUS Halloween: Body Fluids revolves around snot, saliva, stomach acid, and the big little mysteries of the human body. Why is nasal mucus sometimes green, gray, or clear? Why do sweaty feet smell? And what does an artificially generated burp sound like? Here, science meets hands-on fun – with a comedy atmosphere that even makes the grimmest Halloween pumpkin curious.
Stand-up for Curious Noses
The event presents scientific questions with the timing of a good punchline: First comes the furrowing of brows, then the aha moment, and finally laughter. Children and families discover which bodily fluids our organism produces and what roles they fulfill. The humor emerges not from invented horror stories, but from astonishing facts, sensory impressions, and the charming feeling that our own body is conducting a pretty crazy research project every day.
Mucus Recipes, Experiments and Plenty of Interaction
In this open format, no one stays in spectator mode for long. There will be experimentation, tinkering, and trying things out. The program includes mucus recipes as well as an experiment that simulates a burp. The hands-on stations connect expertise, understandable explanations, and playful interaction. Thus, a laughter experience with real knowledge gain arises – cabaret for body researchers, without ties and with significantly more mucus.
Flexible Family Time Instead of a Seat Marathon
The open format will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Visitors can come and go as they please and continually engage in new experiments. This flexible dramaturgy ensures a relaxed audience reaction: short discovery rounds, surprising punchlines, and always a new detail that even makes adults briefly consider whether they have adequately appreciated their own nasal mucus so far.
