Thomas Philipzen makes Bielefeld's brain laugh

As the world becomes increasingly complicated, Thomas Philipzen prescribes a proven countermeasure: laughter together. On October 15, 2026, the cabaret artist will perform his solo program Brain Part-Time at the Stieghorst Recreation Center in Bielefeld.

Between Major Weather Events and Brain Overload

After 20 successful years as part of the Münster cult cabaret STORNO, Thomas Philipzen is going solo. His program targets the political and social instability and transforms news madness, everyday panic, and human failures into pointed cabaret.

Philipzen skillfully, singing and improvising, navigates through the absurdities of the present. There, biting wordplay, quirky songs, and surprising leaps of thought meet an energetic stage presence. The result: stand-up with a musical note, classic cabaret at full speed, and a laughter experience that gives the overwhelmed frontal lobe a much-needed airing.

Punchlines, Piano, and Perfect Timing

Thomas Philipzen combines observational skills with precise timing and visible joy of playing. Scenes emerge between confusion and confidence, where the audience feels caught, amused, and occasionally politically familiar. Interaction with the contradictions of modern life is just as much part of the concept as the switch between spoken punchlines, singing, and improvisation.

The humor remains biting without slipping into a leaden doomsday mood. Instead, Philipzen relies on bold counter-laughter: a small stage rebellion against a lack of cheerful material, joke rhythm disturbances, and the question of whether we are living in a turning point or already in the end times.

Conclusion: Counter-Laughter Instead of Brooding

Brain Part-Time promises a lively cabaret evening with a sharp eye, musical tempo, and a healthy dose of self-irony. Thomas Philipzen turns the normal madness of the present into a pointed laughing experience. Bielefeld can look forward to an evening where the audience stumbles collectively over the world – and then goes home much lighter.
