String Orchestra Sounds to Start the Winter Semester
The Student Chamber Orchestra Bielefeld opens the winter semester on Sunday, October 18, 2026, with a festive concert at the community center of the Neustädter Marienkirche. From 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, the ensemble combines romantic richness, French colorfulness, and baroque precision for a varied musical experience with free admission.
A Journey Through Several Eras
The program features works for string orchestra by Alexander Glazunov, Clara Schumann, Lili Boulanger, Dora Pejacevic, Elfrida Andrée, Franz Schubert, Edvard Grieg, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Max Reger. The stylistic range leads through different sound worlds of orchestral literature and makes the concert afternoon a diverse encounter with classical music.
Warm String Colors and Distinct Horn Sound
The musical direction is taken by Jimin Luna Bang. As a soloist, Judith Gürtler will be featured on the horn. In the interplay of precise conducting, differentiated orchestration, and solo presence, a lively stage performance emerges that connects the characteristic sound of the horn with the transparent sound of the string orchestra.
Live Atmosphere in the Neustädter Marienkirche
The community center of the Neustädter Marienkirche offers a concentrated setting for an immediate concert experience. Subtle dynamic changes, contrasting string passages, and the special audience atmosphere of a semester kickoff make classical music accessible and intense. The concert is open to all music enthusiasts from Bielefeld and the surrounding area.
A Musical Start for Everyone
Admission is free. This invites students, families, educators, and all lovers of classical music from the Student Chamber Orchestra Bielefeld to a shared start into the winter semester.
