Jazz on ten strings: ma:zz brings musical joy to Bielefeld
On Friday, November 6, 2026, the jazz duo ma:zz will perform at the Kiezladen Haltestulle in Bielefeld. From 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, the duo combines original compositions with instrumental pieces from the American Songbook and European music.
Guitar and double bass in immediate dialogue
Manfred Matulla on guitar and Matthias Kosmahl on double bass meet musically on equal terms. Their common language emerges in improvisation: two instruments respond to each other, take up motifs and develop them further in the moment. This creates a concentrated jazz sound, characterized by fine synchronization, open interplay, and a lot of space for musical nuances.
Between American Songbook and original compositions
The program features original pieces as well as instrumental music from the American Songbook and European jazz tradition. Melodic lines, warm string sounds, and a flexible direction without a fixed baton shape the stage performance. The music of ma:zz sounds profound and optimistic, joyful and friendly.
