TANKERKÖNIG brings Wader, Mey & Co to Bielefeld

On October 4, 2026, TANKERKÖNIG will perform the program Wader, Mey & Co at the Neue Schmiede Bielefeld. From 7:00 PM, poetic singer-songwriter artistry, clear societal commentary, and multi-voiced arrangements meet in an intimate live atmosphere.

Poetic texts, clear stance and strong melodies

TANKERKÖNIG dedicates itself to songs by Hannes Wader, Reinhard Mey, and other influential voices of the German-speaking singer-songwriter genre. The focus is on lyrics full of irony, romance, rebellion, and precise observation. The musical selection combines personal stories with societal context while preserving the immediate power of political song.

Multi-voiced sound with its own signature

The musicians interpret the well-known repertoire not as mere copy. Multi-voiced singing, fresh arrangements, and creative sound ideas give the songs additional depth. Between acoustic warmth, rhythmic precision, and pointed stage performance, a concert experience emerges that takes the linguistic impact of the songs as seriously as their musical dynamics.

A journey through the German singer-songwriter tradition

Hannes Wader and Reinhard Mey are among the defining figures of the German singer-songwriter scene. Mey stands for narrative, finely observed chansons, while Wader became known for socially critical and politically engaged songs. TANKERKÖNIG brings these different forms of expression together and makes audible why many of these songs remain relevant to this day.
