Speed-Dating Robotics: Experience Future Technologies Up Close
How can intelligent assistance systems support people in medicine and care? At the free Speed-Dating Robotics event in the Knowledge Workshop Bielefeld, children aged 10 and older, teenagers, adults, and families can experience current research prototypes firsthand and engage in conversations with researchers.
Robotics to Try Out
At several interactive stations, visitors can see how humans, technology, and interaction work together in medical assistance systems. Attendees can test various systems themselves, gaining direct insight into the development and testing of modern research technologies.
Between Care, Medicine, and Artificial Intelligence
The focus is on the applications of robotics and assistance systems in the healthcare sector. The event offers a vivid examination of technical prototypes and invites reflection on the opportunities and limitations of technological support. It also addresses a central societal question: How can technology help sensibly without replacing human connection, understanding, and decision-making?
Research in Open Exchange
This offering was developed by the University of Bielefeld, the Medical Faculty OWL, and the Working Group on Medical Assistance Systems and the Working Group on Interactive Robotics in Medicine and Care. In addition to the demonstrators, personal exchange is at the center. No prior knowledge is required, and access to cultural and scientific education remains intentionally low-barrier.
A Sensory Art Experience of Technical Presence
Bright displays, moving sensors, focused interaction, and the immediate response of the systems shape the exhibition atmosphere. The aesthetic experience arises not only from forms and materials but through the interplay of body, language, sight, and machine. Thus, robotics becomes an experiential societal practice.
Conclusion: Experience Robotics Live and Understandably
The Speed-Dating Robotics event connects science communication, interactive offerings, and critical reflection. Visitors discover current assistance systems, learn about research questions in medicine and care, and gain new perspectives on everyday technology. A visit to the Knowledge Workshop Bielefeld enriches families, young technology enthusiasts, and everyone who wants to not only look at future technologies but also experience them firsthand.
