Kurdish Film Days 2026: With Bekas between cinema, childhood, and hope
On October 9, 2026, Lichtwerk in Ravensberger Park invites you to a screening of Bekas as part of the Kurdish Film Days 2026. The film evening combines impressive Kurdish filmmaking with an emotional story about two brothers, grand dreams, and the desire for a better life.
A film about dreams, courage, and solidarity
Bekas tells the story of two homeless Kurdish brothers, Dana and Zana. After they see clips from a Superman film through a hole in the wall of a village cinema, they make an extraordinary decision: they want to travel to America and meet their hero in person. Riding on their donkey Michael Jackson, they embark on an adventurous journey filled with fantasy, hope, and childlike determination.
Kurdish cinema in the festival program
The Kurdish Film Days will take place for the third consecutive time in Bielefeld in 2026. From October 2 to 16, Lichtwerk will present several films that showcase Kurdish realities of life, history, and the present from various artistic perspectives. The program ranges from emotional feature films to documentary works and simultaneously opens global perspectives on identity, solidarity, and resistance.
Festival atmosphere at Lichtwerk
Lichtwerk in Ravensberger Park provides the perfect setting for this special film evening. Instead of an open-air stage and camping atmosphere, here focused cinema moments, vibrant screen images, and shared discussions about film and society take center stage. The Kurdish Film Days combine film art, culture, and community feeling into a multi-day cinema experience.
An evening for film enthusiasts and culture interested
The screening is aimed at everyone interested in international cinema, Kurdish culture, and stories about hope and solidarity. Bekas offers an accessible introduction to the festival program and shows how powerful cinematic narratives can transcend borders, origins, and everyday life.
Conclusion: Experience Kurdish film culture live
The screening of Bekas promises an emotional festival evening with an extraordinary story, striking images, and plenty of room for personal thoughts. Anyone who wants to discover Kurdish filmmaking and experience the special atmosphere of the Kurdish Film Days 2026 should not miss this date at Lichtwerk.
