Kurdish Film Days 2026: Cinema, Dialogue, and Kurdish Perspectives
On October 11, 2026, Lichtwerk in Bielefeld invites you to a special event of the Kurdish Film Days 2026. The focus is on the screening of Bir Kar Tanesinin Ömrü – The Lifespan of a Snowflake and the personal reception of the director Kazim Öz.
An Afternoon of Film with Personal Encounter
From 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the event combines cinematic art with direct exchange. The presence of the director adds a special closeness to the screening and opens up space for discussions about the creation, themes, and perspectives of the film.
Kurdish Film Creation at Lichtwerk
The Kurdish Film Days have been held for the third consecutive time in Bielefeld in 2026. From October 2 to 16, Lichtwerk Cinema presents a program that makes Kurdish film creation visible in its emotional, political, and artistic breadth. A total of four Kurdish films and another contribution in cooperation with Afrika Wakati e. V. will be on the program.
Festival Atmosphere in a Program Cinema
Lichtwerk in Ravensberger Park creates the appropriate setting for this cultural multi-day experience. A concentrated festival atmosphere emerges between the cinema hall, foyer, and audience, where film, community feeling, and social dialogue come together. The festival organization is supported by the Initiative for Peace and Hope e. V. in cooperation with Lichtwerk Bielefeld and Afrika Wakati e. V.
An Appointment for Film and Culture Enthusiasts
The reception of Kazim Öz is aimed at all Bielefeld residents and culture-interested guests who want to learn about Kurdish realities of life, history, and present from a cinematic perspective. The event series also opens up views on global topics such as identity, solidarity, and resistance.
Conclusion
The Kurdish Film Days 2026 bring engaged cinema and personal encounters to Lichtwerk. Those who want to experience the film together with other cinema fans and welcome the director Kazim Öz on site will find a special appointment in the Bielefeld festival program on October 11, 2026.
