Building blocks become small printing tools

On Sunday, November 8, 2026, the Peter August Böckstiegel Museum will transform into a creative workshop for young people aged 10 to 14 years. In this free family and youth workshop, participants will discover how unusual printing plates can be created from building blocks and how their own artworks can grow from them.

Building, coloring, printing

No spaceships and castles will be created here: the building blocks have a new task as building elements for printing plates. Colored and printed on paper, they develop exciting patterns and motifs. Different color combinations and multiple printing layers open up new design possibilities.

Discovering art like Peter August Böckstiegel

Peter August Böckstiegel enjoyed experimenting with printing techniques, creating impressive works of art. The workshop builds on this artistic working method and makes print art practically accessible for young people. The teens will learn how an individual image emerges from a simple idea through experimentation, modification, and combination.

Age-appropriate and creative

The offer is aimed at young people aged 10 to 14 years and provides a child-friendly learning experience with plenty of room for curiosity, personal decisions, and visible results. Building and printing stimulate design, fine motor skills, color sensitivity, and creative problem solving. Working together creates an inspiring family experience and makes art immediately accessible.

Free admission thanks to the Cultural Rucksack NRW

The workshop is supported by the Cultural Rucksack NRW and is free of charge. Participation is possible by registering via the Cultural Rucksack. The museum provides a protected indoor space where young people can work concentrated, eagerly experimenting, and safely.

Conclusion: An afternoon full of learning fun and personal art

Building blocks can do more! Construction. Print. Art. combines building, experimenting, and artistic design into a special cultural offer for young people. Those interested in children's art, unusual printing techniques, and visible personal results will experience a creative afternoon filled with wonder, curiosity, and children's laughter at the Peter August Böckstiegel Museum.
