Discovering Digital Independence: With Child and Pumpkin in Bielefeld

On Sunday, November 1, 2026, the Digital Independence Day invites families to Acme Labs Bielefeld. Between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, the focus will be on free software, data protection, and self-determined use of digital technology. The motto With Child and Pumpkin connects practical learning with an open, family-friendly atmosphere.

Solving Digital Questions Together

The Data Punks and other helpers are available for questions about computers, smartphones, and digital communication. Visitors can bring their own devices and search for solutions together. Topics range from switching to GNU/Linux to automated backups and LibreOffice to secure smartphones, ad blockers, and self-determined communication.

Child-friendly Family Experience with Learning Fun

Families will have a unique learning experience: children will see how technology works, while adults receive practical support for daily digital life. The joint experimentation fosters curiosity, media competence, and the ability to consciously make digital decisions. Thus, a workshop becomes a family experience filled with children's laughter, wonder, and shared time.

Focus on Safety and Digital Competence

Data protection, data security, and the responsible handling of personal information are central themes. Open consultations allow for age-appropriate conversations and practical steps that families can directly follow. Those who bring a device will receive support with their individual questions; important data should be backed up beforehand.

Open Workshop for Curious Families

The Digital Independence Day is designed as an exchange, DIY meeting, and workshop. Prior knowledge is not required. The focus is on understandable explanations, joint learning, and the experience of using digital technology in a self-determined way. Admission is free.

This family event in Bielefeld offers open access to media education, data protection, and free software. Those who want to understand digital devices better and explore new paths with children will experience an informative afternoon with practical benefits at Acme Labs.
