Creating Glass Stars: Creative Family Time at the Museum

In the glass workshop at the Peter August Böckstiegel Museum, children aged 8 and above, together with an adult companion, discover the fascinating world of glass design. On Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, a personal star for the winter season will be created through collaborative handwork.

Cutting, Grinding, Soldering: Art for Participation

Inspired by Peter August Böckstiegel's glass works, participants will first cut and grind the glass. Then, the individual elements will be soldered together to form traditional stars. Children will experience firsthand how a luminous artwork grows from carefully selected glass pieces.

Creatively Together and Age-Appropriate

The glass workshop is designed for children aged 8 and above and one adult companion. Parents, grandparents, godparents, or another beloved person will support the creative process. The tandem work strengthens concentration, fine motor skills, endurance, and the collaborative development of individual ideas.

Experiencing Art, Discovering Skills

The family experience combines museum, craftsmanship, and creative learning experiences. Children learn a traditional technique, make their own design decisions, and appreciate the value of careful work. The adult companion ensures support and safety during the individual work steps.

A Special Star for the Winter Season

At the end, each tandem takes home a self-designed work. The created glass stars create a festive winter atmosphere and become a special eye-catcher both indoors and outdoors. Children's laughter, wonder, and shared learning fun make the afternoon a valuable family time.

Conclusion: The glass workshop offers families a creative museum experience with visible results. Those who want to create together, learn craftsmanship techniques, and take home a special memory will experience a varied afternoon full of curiosity and shared time.
