Great cinema for little film fans in Bielefeld

On Sunday, November 8, 2026, the Rudolf-Oetker-Halle will transform into a special family venue: At Kino für Kurze, children and adults can experience four amusing silent film classics with live music from Küspert & Kollegen. Excitement, surprising twists, and lots of children's laughter make the cinema afternoon a shared family experience.

Detectives, Beetles, and a Fluffy Phantom

To kick things off, a Scotland Yard detective follows his animated beetle assistant to New York. During their research, the two encounter a mysterious fluffy phantom and confusing transformations. The imaginative story invites children to pay close attention, observe characters, and develop their own hypotheses about the outcome.

Slapstick, Stunts, and Plenty of Chaos

Additional short films take you to California, into a neighborhood love story, and right into turbulent everyday situations. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, Buster Keaton, and Charlie Chaplin show how small mishaps can create great comedy. The clearly understandable imagery of silent films also provides younger children with an age-appropriate approach to film history.

Live Music Brings the Cinema Hall to Life

Küspert & Kollegen accompany the films live, infusing the images with rhythm, tension, and emotion. This makes the cinema visit a sensual learning experience: Children discover how music changes moods, emphasizes movements, and makes stories understandable without spoken dialogue. This strengthens curiosity, perception, and cultural education in a child-friendly way.

Quality Time with Educational Value

The program combines humorous entertainment with a playful insight into early film art. Families experience famous classics, discuss characters, and explore different forms of humor together. The event creates space for wonder, exchange, and fun learning, without losing sight of film enjoyment.
