Hinterland Hack 2026: From Challenge to Solution in 48 Hours
From October 16 to 18, 2026, the Founders Home of the Founders Foundation in Bielefeld will transform into a creative think tank for digital innovation. At the Hinterland Hack, around 60 selected tech talents will encounter real challenges from the industry and develop solutions with practical impact in less than 48 hours.
Where Ideas Grow Under Time Pressure
The hackathon is aimed at developers, business talents, designers, and creative lateral thinkers. In interdisciplinary teams, viable concepts, digital prototypes, and new business ideas emerge from complex business challenges. The event atmosphere thrives on focused working phases, direct exchanges, and the energy of a team working together towards a clear goal.
An Intense Program with Team Spirit
The event kicks off on Friday with arrival, welcome, team formation, and a joint BBQ. After that, the hacking phase begins. On Saturday, there will be workshops, Q&A sessions, morning briefings, status updates, and pitch preparation. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and networking create space for new contacts, short breaks, and fresh perspectives throughout the ongoing development process.
The Solution Day as the Highlight
On Sunday, the teams will present their results in front of a jury. The presentations will be in English and will demonstrate how real industry problems can be turned into implementable solutions in a short time. After the pitch finale, there will be an award ceremony before the event experience concludes with networking. A prize of 5,000 euros is allocated for the winning team; additionally, tickets for the Hinterland of Things Conference are up for grabs.
Organization and Target Audience
The organizer is Founders Foundation gGmbH, which is building a B2B startup ecosystem in Bielefeld and training the next generation of founders. The Hinterland Hack connects startup culture, SMEs, and technology in a professionally organized hackathon format. Limited accommodation in the Founders Foundation and selected hotel contingents support event planning for participants from outside.
