In Other Minds: Better Understanding Mental Illnesses
What does a psychosis feel like? What does a person with dementia experience in daily life? The event In Other Minds invites you to the Knowledge Workshop Bielefeld on October 15, 2026, to learn about mental states of exception from a new perspective at interactive stations.
Participatory Perspective Shift
A dementia course, virtual reality simulations, and an aging simulation suit make changes in perception immediately experienceable. Visitors can try out the stations themselves and experience how familiar situations suddenly appear different.
Understanding Mental Health
The open offer provides a vivid access to topics such as dementia, psychosis, and depression. Instead of theoretical distance, the personal experience of the event is at the center. The interactive impressions encourage conversations about mental health, societal understanding, and the daily lives of those affected.
Guidance by Experts
Experts in the field of mental health accompany the offer, answering questions and contextualizing personal impressions from a professional standpoint. This connects the event experience, information, and a sensitive target audience approach for adults, teenagers aged 14 and older, and seniors.
Open Offer as Part of Mental Health Week
The event takes place as part of Mental Health Week and is organized by the City of Bielefeld in cooperation with the Protestant Hospital Bethel and the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia OWL. For the audience, there is a low-threshold access without registration.
Conclusion: In Other Minds offers an impressive event experience with practical perspective shifts, professional guidance, and important impulses for greater understanding. Those who want to not only learn about mental states of exception but also interactively understand them will experience a special afternoon in the Knowledge Workshop Bielefeld.
