Everything has its time? A service between faith and philosophy
When daily life is characterized by appointments, acceleration, and constant accessibility, this service opens a space for contemplation and new questions. Under the guiding theme "Everything has its time?" the series "Church Meets Philosophy" connects Protestant liturgy, biblical spirituality, and philosophical reflection on how we deal with our lifetime.
Between time pressure and life rhythm
The focus is on the experience that time is both precious, limited, and experienced differently. Many people feel their lives increasingly pressured despite growing prosperity. The service addresses this tension and asks what significance free time, rest, responsibility, and hope gain in personal life and society.
Protestant service with philosophical discussion
Pastor Bertold Becker will conduct the service together with sociologist and philosopher Prof. Dr. Felix Manuel Nuss. Philosophical perspectives meet the gospel as a special announcement of time. Current references, questions of the Peace Decade 2026, and Christian faith practice merge into a religious experience that invites reflection and inner orientation.
Music, liturgy, and shared pause
The musical arrangements will be provided by Matthias Klause on piano, Max Preis on bass, Helge Neuhaus on drums, and Ruth M. Seiler on organ. Sound, prayer, biblical impulses, and the atmosphere of the Altstädter Nicolaikirche create a dignified setting for community, spirituality, and personal contemplation.
Part of the Peace Decade 2026
The service takes place as part of the Peace Decade 2026 in Bielefeld. The collection supports projects of Christian peace services. This connects the personal question of one’s own time with the shared commitment to peace, responsibility, and lived charity.
Visitors can expect a thoughtful Protestant service with philosophical impulses, special music, and an open invitation to a shared faith experience. Experience the connection of theology, philosophy, and community live on November 8, 2026, at the Altstädter Nicolaikirche.
