Understanding Creation: Faith, Bible, and Present in Dialogue

The biblical creation tradition touches upon fundamental questions of human existence: Where does the world come from, what significance does creation hold in the Christian faith, and how can biblical texts be responsibly understood today? The 26th Theological Workshop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community Schildesche invites you to a concentrated religious experience of lectures, reflection, and open exchange.

Biblical Texts in the Light of Their Time

The focus of the first workshop day is the biblical creation narratives in the context of the primeval history from Genesis 1 to 11. Dr. Klaus Straßburg introduces the theological contexts. Afterwards, Hans-Friedrich Alfringhaus addresses the question of how the Christian confession of the creator of heaven and earth can be understood today.

Theology Between Faith and Scientific Perspective

The event combines exegetical expertise with systematic-theological perspectives. In this context, biblical tradition, Christian spirituality, and modern scientific insights meet in a respectful dialogue. Creation appears not only as a teaching topic but as a reality of life that raises questions about responsibility, human nature, and the relationship with the world.

Lectures, Discussion, and Spiritual Atmosphere

After the introductory lectures, there will be time for in-depth discussions. The calm atmosphere of the community center in Schildesche creates space for reflection, personal questions, and communal contemplation. Prior knowledge is not required. The Theological Workshop is open to individuals of all denominations and worldviews.

An Introduction to the Multi-Part Workshop Series

The date on October 23, 2026, marks the beginning of a series of events that will deal with the Christian conception of creation in autumn 2026 and spring 2027. Other topics will range from anthropology and the Canticle of the Sun by Francis of Assisi to an ethic of the earth and biblical creation statements by Job and Paul.

Participation is free of charge and does not require registration. Those who want to rediscover the biblical creation tradition, unlock theological connections, and exchange ideas with other interested individuals will find a solid experience of faith here with open discussions and spiritual breadth.
