When theater, dance, and music become a common language
At Connected Worlds: Theater - Dance - Music, mothers and children from six years old transform the International Meeting Center in Bielefeld into an open space for imagination, movement, and sound. From October 26 to 28, 2026, scenes, dances, and songs will be created daily from 9 am to 2 pm based on the topics that are currently engaging families. The joint conclusion takes place on October 29 from 10 am to 12 pm.
A performance that grows from the moment
The dramaturgy does not follow a finished stage script. Instead, the participants develop their contents themselves – from observations, questions, memories, and ideas from family life. Theater, dance, and music come together in a participatory stage art where every movement and every rhythm gains meaning.
Body, rhythm, and play as a universal language
Where words are insufficient, communication begins through body, acoustics, and movement. Improvisation, acting, and musical play create a theatrical atmosphere where different experiences come together. Especially for families with a history of fleeing and migration, the project opens a protected space for encounter, expression, and cultural exchange.
Becoming creative together
No prior knowledge is required. The format is aimed at mothers and children from six years old and is open to all interested families. The focus is not on the perfect performance, but on the shared experience: a creative process where individual impulses grow into their own small production.
The IBZ as an intercultural stage space
The International Meeting Center Friedenshaus is an established place for education, culture, and encounter in Bielefeld. With its offerings for children, young people, and families, it provides the appropriate framework for a project that links theater education, dance, music, and intercultural participation. According to the venue's information, the facilities have barrier-free access, an elevator, and accessible parking and sanitary facilities.
Conclusion: A stage experience to participate in
Connected Worlds invites families to not only watch theater but also to shape it themselves. Those who enjoy movement, music, shared play, and new encounters will experience a creative week in Bielefeld with a concluding presentation moment. Participation is free of charge. Registration is possible via email at email@sarinahettich.de.
