Four Runaways, a Shared Dream and Great Puppet Theatre
When a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster take their old age into their own hands, a fairy tale stage experience for the whole family begins in the Neue Schmiede. The Puppet Theatre Künster brings The Bremen Town Musicians on Sunday, November 8, 2026, as a lovingly quirky tabletop puppet production to Bielefeld.
An Escape That Fosters Friendship
The donkey is too old, the dog too sensitive, the cat no longer wanted, and the rooster dangerously close to the cooking pot. Each animal escapes its previous fate alone – until a strong community forms from four loners. The dramaturgy follows the well-known fairy tale motif and emphasizes courage, solidarity, and the value of togetherness.
Comic-like Characters and Immediate Acting Art
The performance features lovable quirky and comic-like tabletop puppets. The production emerges from two to three suitcases and transforms the stage with a few props into an imaginative fairy tale world. One actor and storyteller guides the narrative and makes the open play style immediately tangible.
Theater Atmosphere for Children from Three Years
The short performance combines clear narrative art, visual comedy, and a warm theater atmosphere. Movements, voices, and character traits create a sensual stage where children follow the animals, hope with them, and experience the joint departure to Bremen. The family-friendly production is suitable for children from three years old and also invites adult companions to a charming reunion with the Grimm fairy tale.
An Afternoon Full of Fantasy
The performance starts at 15:00, with doors opening at 14:30. After about 45 minutes, the puppet theatre ends at 15:45. In the Neue Schmiede, the open atmosphere of the cultural center combines with a stage where great feelings emerge from small figures.
Conclusion: Together Life Sounds Better
The Bremen Town Musicians show with wit and imagination that no one has to be alone and that even an unusual coalition releases unexpected strengths. Families can expect a compact, poetic stage experience with quirky characters, lively storytelling, and a clear message: Those who stick together find their own way.
