Future Islands: An inclusive theater workshop opens future spaces in Bielefeld
With the Summer Theater Workshop – Future Islands, the Volkshochschule Bielefeld invites you to a special stage experience that combines play, imagination, and participation. From July 20 to 24, 2026, a theater workshop will be created in the Murnau Hall that not only envisions the future, but makes it physically, verbally, and scenically tangible.
When islands become stages
The workshop starts with a strong visual idea: Each island represents its own future. What people live there, what stories do houses, landscapes, and paths carry? This question develops a vibrant theater atmosphere in which stage images, roles, and encounters take shape step by step.

The staging of the morning is not yet complete - and therein lies its power. With creative theater exercises, body-based methods, role-playing, and improvisations, an open rehearsal is created where every voice gets space.
