Autumn Herb Hike in Bielefeld: Nature Prepares for Winter
As the leaves turn colorful and the days noticeably shorten, a remarkable transition period begins in nature. During the nature-oriented herb hike Colorful Foliage, Gray Days - Nature Packs Up, participants will discover the winter strategies of trees, shrubs, and perennial herbs around the Biological Station in Bielefeld on October 30, 2026.
Discovery Experience Among Foliage, Herbs, and Late Autumn
The two-hour city and nature tour leads into a landscape where much is already preparing for the cold season. Among damp leaves, fading colors, and increasingly quiet vegetation, the nature-themed hike vividly conveys what preparations plants are now making and which natural processes become visible in late autumn.
Local Natural History to Experience
The focus is on trees, shrubs, and perennial herbs. The expert look at leaves, stems, seed heads, and retreats opens new perspectives on the cultural and ecological heritage of the Bielefeld landscape. The tour combines botanical expertise with sensory impressions and makes local natural history immediately tangible.
With a Flashlight Through the Early Autumn Evening
The event from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM falls during the early twilight period. Therefore, a flashlight is recommended as part of the equipment. Sturdy, weather-appropriate footwear assists the safe nature experience on the paths around the Biological Station.
