Goitse brings Irish folk energy to Bielefeld

On Friday, November 6, 2026, Goitse will perform at the Neue Schmiede in Bielefeld. The award-winning quintet from Ireland combines traditional jigs and reels with original compositions, modern grooves, and an electrifying stage performance.

Tradition meets driving live sound

Goitse is among the defining ensembles of the new generation of Irish traditional music. Founded at the Irish World Academy in Limerick, the band blends fiddle, banjo, bouzouki, accordion, piano, and vocals to create a sound that remains deeply rooted in Irish music history while sounding surprisingly contemporary.

Virtuosic orchestration and rhythmic pull

The heart of the concert experience is the dynamic interplay of the five musicians. Precise synchronization, powerful rhythm work, and the distinctive voice of Áine McGeeney meet the colorful orchestration of the ensemble. Fast instrumental passages create musical waves that immediately captivate the audience.

A highly acclaimed Irish folk band

Goitse has been recognized as Traditional Group of the Year by Live Ireland and Group of the Year by Chicago Irish American News. In 2016, the band received the Freiburg International Leader award. Their discography includes albums such as Goitse, Transformed, Tall Tales & Misadventures, Inspired By Chance, Úr, and Rosc.
