When Organ and Drums Collide Spontaneously
The Bielefeld Vesper Church 2027 begins with an evening of surprises: On Friday, November 6, 2026, the Neustädter Marienkirche will transform into a resonance space for an extraordinary improvisation request concert. Admission is free.
The Audience Determines the Music
Organist Peter Ewers and drummer Klaus Haves do not know the requested pieces before the concert. Only on the evening will it be decided which musical themes will be played. New soundscapes emerge from spontaneous ideas – bridging church music, jazz, pop, and rhythmic stage performance.
Organ Sound Meets Drumming Energy
The symphonic organ improvisation by Peter Ewers meets the directly pulsating playing style of Klaus Haves. Rich stops, deep basses, percussive accents, and the church vault’s reverberation combine to create a live experience unlike any other. Both musicians respond to each other in direct eye contact, developing their musical synchronization in the moment.
Musical Moderation and Finale Furioso
KMD Christa Kirschbaum leads the evening. She explains the rules of the request concert and guides the audience through a concert evening where every improvisation acquires its own dramaturgy. A finale furioso is planned for the conclusion: For a donation of at least five euros, one can vote on one of three musical proposals.
Kicking Off with the Spirit of the Vesper Church
The concert opens the seventh Bielefeld Vesper Church, which takes place from February 7 to 21, 2027, under the motto simply share in the Neustädter Marienkirche. The improvisation concert captures its central thought: listen, connect with each other, and create something common from different voices.
Conclusion
Visitors can expect a unique concert experience with free program design, powerful organ sound, and electrifying drumming energy. Those who want to experience how music is created without a finished score should enjoy this special kick-off for the Vesper Church 2027 live at the Neustädter Marienkirche.
