Tension, Horror, and Californian Flair: Fritz Schaefer reads "The Three ???"

On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the Dornberg district library will transform into a venue for mysterious investigations, eerie occurrences, and literary adventures. Fritz Schaefer, author and moderator, will present his story from the legendary series "The Three ???" in a live reading for children aged eight and older.

Hollywood between Ghostly Hauntings and Detective Work

The focus is on a case with Californian flair: Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw, and Bob Andrews encounter the business of ominous ghost hunters in Hollywood. Initially, the three detectives suspect a fraud behind the hauntings. However, unexplained and terrifying events throw even the experienced investigators off balance.

The narrative tension arises from the classic interplay of the three characters: analytical observation skills, courage, and journalistic investigation meet in an atmosphere of glamour, mystery, and goosebumps. The genre of children's crime combines fast-paced action with meticulous observation and playful logic.

Fritz Schaefer: Author, Moderator, and New Voice of the Series

Brought up in Dorsten in 1997, Fritz Schaefer became known for his work at WDR as a moderator, reporter, and satire columnist. He hosts the show "Lokalzeit" on television and at 1LIVE on radio, writes for the historical format "Zeitzeichen," and has been a member of the Grimme Prize jury since 2016.

In 2022, his debut book "Strahlemann" was published by Ullstein Verlag. Since 2026, Schaefer has been working as an author for the book and audio play series "The Three ???". His debut within the series takes the well-known detectives to Hollywood, merging familiar characters with a new, contemporary narrative voice.

Reading Atmosphere for Young Crime Fans

A live reading turns printed pages into an immediate literary experience. Voice, rhythm, and linguistic artistry give the criminal case its own dynamism. Between eerie traces, surprising twists, and a Californian setting, an intimate author encounter emerges that connects reading pleasure with excitement.

The event is aimed at children aged eight and older and offers a lively access to literature, audio play culture, and creative detective work. The Dornberg district library, which particularly provides many media for young readers, creates a fitting place for reading promotion.
